ABOUT THE CRAFTER

Beatriz Gómez is a Madrid-based visual artist working across drawing, self-publishing and knitwear. Mostly self-taught, her practice brings together illustration, zines and textiles as different ways of telling stories through images, objects and materials.

Her interest in textiles began within her family, where she learned knitting from her mother and grandmother. She later developed a practice in machine knitting, drawing on the textile knowledge passed down by her grandmother while exploring new techniques and forms through her own work.

Her work draws on the natural world, human relationships and everyday objects, exploring the stories and connections that often go unnoticed. Through drawing, knitting and publishing, she is interested in slowing down, observing carefully and finding different ways to communicate through the things we make and share.

Made by independent women crafters

Women play an important role in shaping contemporary craft, carrying knowledge and traditions forward while finding new ways to work with them. By supporting their independent practices, we help this knowledge continue to grow, evolve, and remain part of contemporary life.
