ABOUT THE CRAFTER

Prescilia Sodj is a visual artist and ceramicist based in Martinique, whose practice also extends to France. Her practice moves between image and object, bringing together hybrid, symbolic figures, bold colour and contrasting textures. Her work draws on the relationship between the strange and the familiar, creating forms that feel both recognisable and unexpected.

After two years studying illustration, Prescilia spent six years training in traditional bespoke shoemaking, completing her final year at the Opéra National du Rhin in Strasbourg. Working alongside different disciplines within the performing arts broadened her approach to making and continues to inform her ceramics today, where the image-making of illustration meets the precision of a hand-learned craft.

Theatricality and staging remain central to her practice. Through colour, form and composition, Prescilia creates small worlds where everyday references take on new meanings. Her work explores how objects and figures can transform our perception of reality, opening up space for curiosity, imagination and enchantment.

Made by independent women crafters

Women play an important role in shaping contemporary craft, carrying knowledge and traditions forward while finding new ways to work with them. By supporting their independent practices, we help this knowledge continue to grow, evolve, and remain part of contemporary life.

Collect directly from the crafter’s studio when available, or have it delivered straight to your door. Whenever possible, we encourage choosing crafters from your city, region, or country, and supporting local connections.
