Handcrafted by Estela in Madrid, founder of Boombo Studio, the Lamp 01 Pink Red Butter transforms humble rye straw into a vibrant surface of light and colour. Using the technique of straw marquetry, the material is carefully composed into a refined and expressive form.

Each piece is cut and placed by hand, allowing subtle variations in fibre and tone to create a surface that feels alive and gently shifting. When illuminated, the light activates the material, revealing its depth, texture, and natural sheen.

Balancing craftsmanship with contemporary exploration, the lamp offers a new reading of straw, elevating it into a distinctive and expressive object.

  • Dimensions: Body 12 x 12 x 26 cm, Body + Shade 47 cm, Shade Diameter 33 cm.

    MDF, dyed rye straw, PVA glue, and beeswax.

    The straw is worked using marquetry, creating a surface where fibre, colour, and light interact in a subtle way.

    A beeswax finish protects the piece while enhancing the material’s natural sheen.

  • Estela Díez is a Spanish designer and founder of Boombo Studio, originally from Asturias and now based in Madrid. With a background in interior design and scenography, she spent years working with fashion brands, creating spaces where objects are experienced through composition, balance, and visual storytelling.

    Drawn to a more tactile way of working, she found in straw marquetry a material that resonated deeply with her sensibility. Through her studio, she transforms rye straw into luminous, geometric surfaces, built slowly through repetition and care. Her work bridges tradition and contemporary expression, inviting a quieter and more attentive relationship with objects. Read our interview with her.
