Kurinuki White Double Espresso with Blue Brushstroke by Ismene King, the ceramic artist behind Karis Studio in Athens. Handbuilt and handcarved using the traditional Japanese Kurinuki technique, each cup is shaped by carving a vessel from a solid block of clay. Finished with an off white glaze and expressive blue brushstrokes, the piece highlights the natural qualities of the clay while balancing everyday function with sculptural form.

ABOUT THE CRAFTER

Ismene King is a sculptress and ceramist based in Athens, and the creator behind Karis Studio. Through her practice, she explores the meeting point between sculpture and utility, working with clay to create functional objects that carry both form and meaning. Her work extends beyond making — through teaching, research, and collaboration, she continues to explore material, tradition, and the value of hands-on creation.
