Tapestry
Isabel Ríos · Barcelona
Isabel Ríos is a Bolivian textile artist based in Barcelona. Her practice centers on handmade tapestry and art therapy, where making becomes a space for reflection and care.
With a background in graphic design and fashion, and experience between Brussels and Paris, her work is shaped by a sensitivity to composition and form. She is drawn to the rhythm of repetition and the quiet presence of natural fibers, developing an intuitive language rooted in gesture, patience, and attention. Through this process, she reconnects with her Bolivian heritage, allowing memory and material to meet in each piece.
Our selection of considered handmade tapestry brings together material and memory, offering thoughtful individuals objects with presence, clear provenance, and a lasting connection to the person who shaped them. Read our interview with Isabel.
Handwoven in Barcelona by Isabel Ríos, this series brings together naturally dyed yarns and fibers gathered through different journeys. Each composition unfolds vertically through stacked forms, where familiar shapes appear and then shift. Crafted in natural fibers, the work invites a quiet reading that moves between possibilities without settling.

Handwoven in Barcelona by Isabel Ríos, this series explores the encounter between paper and textile. Developed from handmade paper collages, each composition is carefully translated into woven form. Crafted in natural fibers, the work reinterprets the torn edges and textures of paper through thread, allowing the surface to hold both irregularity and precision.

Handwoven in Barcelona by Isabel Ríos, this piece is made with hand dyed 100 percent merino wool. Rooted in the landscapes of La Paz where she grew up, its composition echoes mountainous forms, translating memory and territory into textile.
