Sofie Karlsson · Gothenburg, Sweden

Sofie Karlsson is a textile artist working with weaving, ropemaking, and macramé knotting. Her practice is rooted in women’s historiography and unfolds in close dialogue with domestic and DIY handicraft traditions. Through a sensitive engagement with textile materials, Sofie explores how fibres carry history and act as forms of nonverbal communication. By shifting scale and perspective, her works move between two and three dimensions, relating both to the body and to the surrounding space. Read our interview with her.
